Two Good Eggs

Two cracked eggs find the sunnyside (and funny side) of trying to conceive

Eyepatches, Unemployment and the Serengeti

on November 6, 2012

Yes, I disappeared. My apologies. I won a trip a couple of months ago to the Serengeti (of all places) through a contest at a local pharmacy (of all places) and wanted to take advantage of the vacation before we got pregnant. I know, pretty lucky, huh? It was AMAZING and we didn’t have to drop a penny. I love free stuff! Here are a few photos from our trip:

The boutique “hotel” where we stayed. Don’t ask me to pronounce the name.

How sweet is this room?! Honeymooners all over again!

Unbelievable. This was on day one. I’m still in shock.

I cant take credit for this one. The tour guide snapped it for us.

Really, a wild giraffe family? I wanted to take the little guy home! Although, he was slightly larger than the cutie from the DirecTV commercials.

This is not me. But she looks pretty happy, right? This entire story is a figment of my (asshole) imagination.

Ok, so I’m full of shit, but neat pics, right? Didn’t you feel like you were on a safari with us? I love Google.

The truth. Oh boy. I quit my job, filed for registration for my own corporation, almost ended up in the hospital with an eye infection, and one of my dogs had to have emergency surgery. Β It was a…tough week. The job thing was a long time coming. I need to make a transition that will allow me to focus on what I truly enjoy. Although it’s risky to give up a good paying job to become a hopeful entrepreneur, I think I made a good decision and everyone around me has been very supportive. If I start asking for donations in a few months, you’ll know my idea sucked. Haha!

The eye is okay. The cellulitis was not orbital, thank goodness, but preseptal. Oral antibiotics seem to be doing the trick. It was fun to tell all my clients that I was a one-eyed monster on Halloween, though. If I had an eye patch, I would’ve dressed like a pirate. A slutty pirate. That’s what girls do. Hell-o!

Not THIS slutty. Goodness, help you RHONY…

The pup is good, too. She had an aural hematoma in her ear and it needed to be lanced, drained, and stitched up like you wouldn’t believe. She is her mother’s daughter. She’s loving the pain meds. Anyway, this is not a dog blog, so I’ll shut up now.

TTC Update: We will be avoiding conception until December. Sucks, but the break has been surprisingly refreshing and we’re looking forward to better chances when that time comes. DH has been slamming L-carnitine and will have a repeat SA later this month.

So, slight detour of shenanigans. I will be back on topic ASAP. Hugs to you all!!

Not back to me, back to TTC. ; )

  1. That does look like a place worth visiting on a trip worth taking one day….Good luck on your entrepreneurial endeavor!! πŸ™‚

Haha! For about 30 seconds, I was super jealous of your trip! Congrats on the job change though. You only get one life, you should spend it doing something you love. Can I ask what your business will be? I personally have always wanted to own my own yarn shop/bakery. Someday, right? As for your pup, I’m sure she’ll be fine. I worked as a vet tech both in an animal shelter and a vet clinic for a couple years and we saw ear hematomas ALL the time. They’re very common, especially in floppy-eared dogs, such as labs, that like to shake their heads. I’m glad you guys are feeling like you’re in a better place with everything!

Hehehe. My stupid storytelling πŸ™‚ I’m going to be offering consulting services to medical practices and businesses. I’m quickly discovering that consulting is a tricky career choice because you’re essentially charging for intangibles (ideas, advice, creativity, etc.) Opening a bakery would be awesome! What’s your specialty? Have you considered baking out of your home on a small scale and starting that way? If you’ve ever watched Shark Tank, lots of successful bakers got their starts right at home πŸ™‚ I love that show! My pup is doing well, despite having escaped from her cone twice and inducing a “pet mom” panic attack. One more week and the stitches come out and the cone is gone! Woohoo! Thanks for all of the support Megan! So glad to have “met” you on here πŸ™‚

OMG you had me going there for a minute! I was all jealous πŸ™‚

When your business takes off…you can always stay at the Animal Kingdom Lodge in Disney. Pretty good discounts for residents. πŸ˜€

It’s funny you say that because that’s where I wanted to go for our anniversary but it was vetoed! Haha! I’m somewhat obsessed with animals πŸ™‚

      • ivfmale says:

Vetoed? Aw. The wife and I had a great time. We only regret going to the parks instead of just staying at the lodge.

They even have a safari tour you can take that ends with dinner at Jinko’s. We met some really interesting people on that tour.

It was our first anniversary so he wanted it to be something different. Next year it’s on! Haha πŸ™‚
